1. Discipline Introduction
Mathematics and Applied Mathematics can be traced back to the former Department of Mathematics of Ningbo Normal University in 1958. It is one of the earliest majors established in the school. In 1996, Ningbo University, which was established after the merger of the three universities, set up mathematics and applied mathematics for the first time in the Faculty of Science. Obtained a master's degree in basic mathematics in 2001, a master's degree in applied mathematics in 2006, and was listed as a provincial "13th Five-Year Plan" in 2016. In 2018, he was awarded a first-level discipline doctoral program and a first-level master's degree in mathematics. In 2020, it was listed as National first-class undergraduate professional construction point. In 2013, the Faculty of Science established the financial engineering major, relying on the second-level doctoral program of probability theory and mathematical statistics, statistics and quantitative economics under the first-level doctoral program of mathematics, and established the second-level program of the master of finance professional degree.
The first-level master's degree in mathematics includes four second-level disciplines: basic mathematics, applied mathematics, computational mathematics, probability theory and mathematical statistics. (1) Basic mathematics
Basic mathematics is the traditional dominant direction of the mathematics discipline of Ningbo University, covering the main research directions of number theory, algebra, differential geometry, mathematical physics and analysis. Disciplinary members have completed a series of internationally influential academic achievements in the fields of mathematical physics, differential geometry, fractal geometry, number theory, algebraic groups and representation theory, nonlinear analysis, and partial differential equations, which were published in JDG, Adv. (2) Applied Mathematics
This direction is mainly engaged in the modeling, analysis, integrability, symmetry and applications of nonlinear systems in the fields of water waves, physics, oceans, finance and optics. It has formed a reasonable structure and includes many outstanding young and middle-aged teachers. The research team has completed a series of high-level work on nonlinear waves and their applications, nonlinear integrable systems, symmetry of nonlinear systems, and application of partial differential equations. Computational mathematics is the characteristic direction of the mathematics discipline of Ningbo University. It is mainly engaged in the modeling and calculation of nonlinear systems, computational fluid dynamics, numerical optimization and its application in information science, numerical algebra and cryptography, combinatorial optimization and algorithms, combinatorial design , Symbolic calculation and computational geometry. This direction is mainly engaged in the research of stochastic analysis, geometric measurement theory, financial mathematics, insurance actuarial and stochastic control theory and application, and has formed a high-level subject team consisting of many outstanding young and middle-aged teachers. Fourth, the campus environment
The main campus of Ningbo University is located in the north area of the Higher Education Park.
